Smart metering for logistics parks: helping customers control utility costs with better data
Logicor Poland is rolling out smart metering for logistics parks across its entire Polish portfolio. The goal is to give the customers more accurate, timely data on electricity, water, gas and heat consumption. The system is already operational across 14 Logicor logistics parks, covering 533,600 sqm of warehouse and office space, and is scheduled to cover all 18 parks in Poland by the end of 2026. By combining automated data collection with digital reporting, Logicor is helping its customers to identify inefficiencies, improve budget planning and manage operating costs more effectively. The next phase will integrate smart meter data with automated utility invoicing to create a fully digital utilities management process.
Challenge
For occupiers of logistics and warehouse space, managing utility consumption is about more than knowing how much electricity, water, gas or heat has been used.
Customers need reliable data that can help them understand how their buildings are performing, identify inefficiencies, plan operating budgets and assess whether energy-saving measures are delivering the expected results.
Traditional manual meter readings can make that more difficult. They require additional administration, provide less frequent information and can slow down the preparation of utility settlements.
Logicor therefore set out to make utility data more accessible, accurate and useful for customers across its Polish logistics portfolio.
Solution
Logicor is implementing a smart metering system across all 18 of its logistics parks in Poland.
The system is already operational at 14 locations, covering 533,600 sqm of warehouse and office space, with four further parks scheduled for implementation by the end of 2026.
Rather than relying on manual meter readings, the system automatically collects data on:
· electricity consumption;
· water consumption;
· gas consumption and heat consumption.
Measurements are collected every 15 minutes and transmitted to a dedicated digital platform.
This gives users access to up-to-date consumption data, allows them to analyse trends and enables customised reporting based on their operational requirements.
The next stage of Logicor's digitalisation strategy is an automated utility invoicing system. Smart meter data and utility invoices will be integrated within the same digital platform, allowing utility costs to be allocated automatically to individual customers and creating a fully digital billing process.

Benefits for customers
Better visibility of energy and utility consumption
Frequent, automated readings give customers a much clearer picture of how their operations use energy, water, gas and heat.
Instead of relying solely on periodic meter readings, customers can use continuously collected data to understand consumption trends and identify areas that may require attention.
Faster identification of cost-saving opportunities
Greater visibility helps customers and building managers identify inefficiencies sooner and assess opportunities to optimise building operations.
As more data is collected over time, it also provides a stronger basis for comparing performance and identifying further potential savings.
More predictable operating costs
Reliable consumption data can support more effective budget planning and provide greater visibility over operating expenses.
Combined with more efficient infrastructure management, this can help customers make better-informed operational decisions.
Simpler and more transparent utility settlements
Automated data collection removes the need for manual meter readings and significantly streamlines the settlement process.
Logicor's planned automated invoicing system will take this a step further by automatically allocating utility costs to individual customers, reducing the time required to prepare settlements and improving billing transparency.
Better measurement of energy-saving initiatives
Smart metering will enable Logicor customers to measure the energy savings generated by the company's DALI lighting control system.
This means individual customers will be able to assess the effectiveness of lighting automation using their own consumption data and make informed decisions about its continued use.
Stronger data for sustainability and ESG reporting
Detailed consumption information can also support customers' ESG reporting requirements and sustainability objectives by giving them more precise information about utility and energy use within their operations.
