The Nordics Environmental Day in Helsinki

Maintaining biodiversity and protecting the habitats of pollinators

Acting responsibly towards the local communities in which we operate is part of who we are. Every year, our employees across all our offices spend a day working to improve the local environment. This year the activity in the Nordics focused on maintaining biodiversity in collaboration with the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation.

Our Finnish and Swedish teams, 13 people altogether, helped maintain biodiversity and protect the habitats of pollinators by mowing a pollinator meadow in Espoo, Finland, in a beautiful cultural and historical landscape. The pollinator meadow is managed by the Espoo Local Association of the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation.

Mowing a pollinator meadow is one of the best ways to contribute to nature because pollinators play an extremely important role in our ecosystem. Protecting their habitat is crucial for maintaining biodiversity. Mowing helps to create and maintain pollinator friendly wildflower meadows.

At Logicor, our impact on wider society is important to us and our employees. Through our business-wide Charities and Local Communities programme we support charitable organisations through employee participation, sponsorship and donations.

Our teams truly enjoyed doing good for nature and spending time together. Finnish nature has a dedicated festive flag-flying day on the last Saturday of August, and our participation in mowing a pollinator field was a great way to celebrate Finnish nature. I would like to give my warmest thanks to the Finnish Association for nature Conservation for smooth collaboration.

Conservation and restoration of natural habitats is in the heart of Finnish Association for Nature Conservation’s work to protect Finnish nature also for future generations. Pollinator species are a vital part of healthy ecosystems and our food production. It is important to have partners to support this work and spread the message of nature conservation.
